I grew up with Spiderman… As a kid, my mum had to tell me not to try climbing walls because it was impossible… and retarded.
Yesterday’s news was obviously a big shock. Even though I don’t have any beef with Disney, I feel a bit disturbed by the fact that they spent 4 billion dollars in order to own the 5000 super heroes Stan Lee has created. But again, it’s maybe not such a bad idea. Let’s face it, since Disney bought Pixar and Studio Ghibli, not much has changed. In fact, I actually loved “The Incredibles” and “Ponyo”…
Also, it’s not like some huge fat evil company is buying this little family owned edition on the corner of the street… no, Marvel is a huge dinosaur, number 1 in comics publishing. I see it more like two brothers gathering together. In addition, Disney owning Marvel means more films (because that’s what it’s about… ) and more cash (let’s not forget that Disney is behind huge blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean’s).
SO, after the shock goes away (and you read Wired article about it… ) it’s all good. Hopefully Disney is smart enough to stay away from the Super hero stories and only provide with cash because at the end of the day, it’s all that matters right? Cash.
Still… Spiderman with Mickey’s ears… ridiculous.
Hi there.
I wrote the bit on Wired and – I’m in awe. Nice work, sir.
Hi John, thanks for passing by. Your article truly inspired me along with that big news. It’s a pleasure to have you here.
