Flowers and diner?

2009-09-21-flowers

Do not tell me you’ve never been in a situation where you’re in a restaurant and someone passes by asking if you want to buy flowers? Here’s the deal, Abrigo and I like to go out to restaurants so the above situation is actually not a joke. Once we even counted them and there were 5 of them (and that was a short evening).

Here’s the thing, I actually don’t mind the concept of selling flowers in restaurants, it’s actually pretty smart. Let’s say you forget about your darling’s birthday but remember at the last minute so you manage to book up two sits in a restaurant… But because of the panic of being violently murdered by your girl, you forget to buy a present (obviously) so the LEAST you can do is buy flowers BUT since it’s a last minute task, all shops are closed. For THIS particular situation, I’m pretty sure you’d be welcoming one of these flower guy like the new messiah.

HOWEVER, I’m sure there’s a way for them to be more efficient because right now, they’re simply spamming people to buy flowers and that’s just not cool. And it makes perfect sense because it’s a different guy every time so I bet there’s no way for them to track who’s said “no”. I obviously don’t know this “flower by night” business but perhaps restaurants should have a little sign on the table with a “yes flowers please” or “no gtfo” and the flower guys would automatically see who wants flowers. Pretty good huh?

There are other solutions of course. For example, they could assign a neighborhood per flower-guy so that they would kind of know who was interested or not. Either way, it seems that they haven’t thought this through… they just went for the most annoying and simplest way to propose flowers. This is like me ringing at your door EVERY morning and asking if you wanna buy some of my croissants… wait… that could actually work… omg…

T as jamais essaye le fameux “non on a déjà baise”? C’est devenu un vrai jeu a chaque fois que je vais au resto :-)

  2. Silver says:

Je suis partant pour les croissants.

Mais sinon ça m’étonne que les restaurants permettent qu’autant de vendeurs viennent aux tables des clients ?…

i heard that when they don’t succeed to sell their flowers they have to eat them as a punishment and get around naked for the next 10 days…that might explain…Anyways i was wondering if you see them in indian restaurants…anyone…if not then maybe there is a system after all…

gin-gin > maybe we should ask Silver, he lives in India if I’m not mistaken.

Silver > oui il y en a autant que ça et sont relativement bien tolérés parmi les restaurants… en tout cas en Suisse.

  6. [...] strip scenario came from Cagouillette and is mainly related to the one I did a few months ago (already!). First of all, it still amazes me how many of these flower dudes there [...]
