I have no idea who the fuck invented the concept of doormat but he must have been fucking retarded. There’s nothing more hypocritical than a doormat, especially here in Western countries. You see, in Asia, it is custom politeness to take your shoes off when you go into someone’s house… It is also a hygiene issue to do the same at your place as well. The simple reason being that streets are fucking dirty and I don’t care how many times you sweep your shoes on that doormat, you’ll still bring dirt around.
This is the reason why when I’m invited, I always ask if the host lets people wear shoes or not. If he does then I won’t as well. But if he wants to take them off, I would do it without drama. Not taking your shoes off pisses me as much as wearing your day clothes on your bed… Unless your name is Gisele Bundchen of course… then you can do whatever you want even at my place.
